100 Grand Bars Copycat Recipe

This is a great recipe for beginning candy makers because it doesn’t require any special cooking skills or special ingredients and it is naturally gluten-free. You can find the ingredients at any grocery or big box store.

What do you need to make 100 Grand Bars?

  • chocolate melts or white chocolate melts
  • rice crisp cereal (like Rice Krispies)
  • caramel candies – I like to use Kraft Baking Caramels
Flatten the caramels.

How do you make the 100 Grand Copycat Bars?

You have a choice of 2 different preparation methods.

Preparation Method 1

  • Unwrap caramels and press them flat with a rolling pin. (Or use your palm to press them flat.) Set aside.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add 8 ounces of either milk chocolate melts OR white chocolate melts. Microwave for 45 seconds. Stir. If chocolate is not completely melted, return to microwave for another 30-45 seconds. Stir the mixture until smooth.
  • Mix one cup of Rice Krispies into the chocolate. Stir until blended.
  • Line an 8″ by 8″ baking dish with waxed paper or parchment paper. Spritz paper with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Spread 1/2 of chocolate Krispie mixture evenly over the bottom of the pan. Top evenly with the caramels.
  • Spread the remaining Krispie mixture over the caramels. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour or until firm. Cut into bars.

  • Spread evenly over the caramels. Place the mixture into the refrigerator for 30 minutes to one hour until hardened. Cut into squares.
  • Melt an additional 8 ounces of milk chocolate or white chocolate candy melts following the instructions above.
  • Spread a piece of waxed or parchment paper on a baking sheet. Dip each square into the chocolate mixture. Spoon chocolate over the square. Place the dipped square on the waxed paper. Place squares in the fridge for 20-30 minutes or until hardened.

Can I use substitutions in this recipe?

Yes, you can! Here’s some good substitutions:

  • Replace the Rice Krispies with Cocoa Pebbles or Corn Chex.
  • Use whatever type of chips or candy melts you prefer; butterscotch, vanilla, milk, sweet, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chips or candy melts.
  • Use other flavors of caramels; sea salt, chocolate, or even bourbon.
