Pretzel-Peanut-Toffee Bark Recipe

I like to make plenty of holiday treats to share with friends and family over the holidays. But, I also prefer easy recipes that don’t require a lot of time in the kitchen. What I like about bark is that you can make it in minutes and create versions for any tastes, like the delicious sweet and salty mix of this Pretzel-Peanut-Toffee Bark Recipe.

Peanut-Pretzel-Toffee Bark

The great thing about this recipe is that it requires only 4 ingredients. And, I’m talking common pantry ingredients, not hard-to-find ingredients.

What you need to make it:

  • roasted peanuts- I like to use plain or honey roasted
  • pretzel sticks
  • white chocolate bark or white chocolate chips
  • 1 to 2 Heath bars or 1 to 1 1/2 cups toffee chips

Cooking Tips:

  • Make this gluten-free by substituting gluten-free pretzels for regular pretzels
  • You can substitute other nuts for peanuts if desired. Use toasted pecans, walnuts, almonds, or macadamia nuts for a deliciously different taste.
  • You can substitute chocolate bark for white chocolate bark.
  • If you are using white chocolate chips to make the bark, add one tablespoon shortening to the chips to help them solidify.
  • Substitute other candies for the Heath bars or toffee chips. Good choices are anything chocolate, like Reese’s cups, Milky Way, Snickers, or Hershey bars.
  • Budget tip: You can find large bags of pretzel sticks at the dollar store, along with small bags of Heath bars for $1. Peanuts and White Chocolate Chips can be found for a good price at Aldi.

Important Info when using chips or bark

Be sure your bowl and mixing spoon are clean and dry when melting the chips or bark. If any water-even a small amount-comes into contact with the chips or bark, it will “seize” or turn into a thick, gritty paste.

Can “seized” chocolate be saved?

Not for dipping. However, you can spread the chocolate across a piece of waxed or parchment paper and allow it to dry. Then, it can be broken into pieces and used in brownies, cakes, or other quick bread.

The Easiest Way to Make Bark

Want to make sure the ingredients are sprinkled evenly throughout the bark? Spread the chocolate mixture on a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper. Remember, to spread it thinly! Then, evenly sprinkle the toffee, nuts, and pretzels across the bark. Spreading it on parchment makes it easy to remove and break into pieces. It also makes it easy to place in the fridge or freezer.
