The DoubleTree Hilton Orlando Seaworld

With its myriad of family-friendly theme parks, Orlando, Florida is a traveler’s dream destination. It’s difficult to choose a hotel when there are so many options. During our recent stay at the DoubleTree Hilton Orlando Seaworld, we discovered why it has become a popular spot to bring the family, host a conference. or plan a girlfriend’s getaway.  Situated on 28 newly landscaped acres, we could have easily planned our entire stay in Orlando without leaving the resort.

Planning a trip to the DoubleTree Hilton Orlando Seaworld? Here’s a few of the comforts you will find at this resort.

The Rooms:

From family sized suites and junior suites to the conventional king and queen rooms, DoubleTree Hilton has options for any type of travel from business to pleasure. I had a double queen room located on the 16th floor of the tower with views of Seaworld and Aquatica in the distance.  The room was large and comfortable, with a 42-inch HDTV television and a plush, Sweet Dreams® mattress. For those of us who have to spend time working during trips, there’s a large workstation, complete with several outlets for all of our electronic devices.  And, of course, it was easy to stay connected with the high-speed wi-fi.

Everyone in my family has allergies so I was thrilled to discover that all rooms at the DoubleTree Hilton Orlando Seaworld were equipped with PURE® Wellness technology. That means all the rooms have been treated with a complex seven step process to make them 99.9% allergen-free.  The 7 step process includes everything from medical grade in-room filtration systems to remove particles from
the air to shock treatment of the entire room to minimize bacteria and other irritants.  The beds are encased in hypo-allergenic bedding and the room has been treated with special all-natural plant based PURE clean products. All rooms come complete with luxurious bath products from Crabtree & Evelyn.

The Amenities:

Nothing makes a trip less hectic than knowing I have access to comfortable amenities. The DoubleTree Hilton Orlando Seaworld delivered on this promise beginning from the moment I parked my car to the moment I checked out. The staff is knowledgable and friendly, greeting all guests with a warm, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie during check-in.  Of course, the cookies aren’t limited to check in time. I saw several guests ask for a cookie at other times during the day!

The grounds are beautifully landscaped.

There’s plenty of secure self-parking, and once you’re parked you can use the complimentary shuttle to visit SeaWorld, Aquatica, or Universal Studios. The shuttle will also take passengers to Disney World, but this is a fee-based service.  Of course, if you’d prefer the exercise, it’s less than a one mile walk to  SeaWorld® Orlando or Aquatica. We decided to take the short walk, which basically consisted of exiting the back gate of the Hilton DoubleTree and walking along a secure path that wound around the SeaWorld parking lot onto their sidewalk.  We could even purchase all of our theme park tickets on-site, meaning no waiting in line when we arrived at the gates.

As a SeaWorld partner hotel, you can receive access to all sorts of special perks. Just stop by the lobby and pick up a SeaWorld Benefits card at the Expedia Local Expert Guest Service Desk. This card allows you to zip through the lines at all rides (except Infinity Falls) with Free Quick Queue, and a free behind the scenes Rescue Tour at SeaWorld’s rescue and rehabilitation facilities. You can also receive Priority Entrance on select days, and 10% off dining options at SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove.

If you prefer to bask in the sun rather than visit other attractions,  the Hilton Doubletree has tons of activities available onsite. With two outdoor heated pools, a kiddie pool, and a jacuzzi, it’s easy to lounge poolside while the kids play.  Scattered outdoors around the property you’ll find a paddle tennis table, a pool table, a foosball table, and a mini-golf course, all available on a first-come, first-serve basis. An indoor kid’s club area is also available during the day, with free activities like board games, coloring sheets, movies, and more.  The kids’ club is also openly two evenings a week for a paid sitter service. The kids can enjoy activities and dinner while parents enjoy a quiet evening to themselves.  A free fitness room is available for anyone wanting to keep up with their daily workouts.

The Restaurants:

Ready for a bite to eat? The Hilton DoubleTree Orlando Seaworld has you covered.  If you’re in the mood for a quick treat while lounging by the pool, the Barefoot Bar is the place to be. Serving a light fare of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers, this is the perfect place for lunch. They have a variety of cocktails with fun names like No Tan Lines, a selection of mocktails, local craft beers-including the intriguingly named Tampa Bay Reef Donkey, and wine.

The Market is also a good place to pick up anything from a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner, to a midnight snack. I tried one of their massive cinnamon rolls, along with a Starbucks coffee. It’s was a delicious way to start the day.  Plus, the cinnamon roll is easily big enough to feed two.  They offer pastries throughout the day, breakfast until 11:00 AM, and gourmet sandwiches and artisan flatbreads until midnight.

If you’re in the mood for a relaxing sit-down meal, stop by  Laguna restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Breakfast can be ordered off the menu, but it’s more fun to take advantage of their hearty buffet breakfast.  You won’t go hungry with their made to order omelet station or their hearty dishes of pancakes, bacon, and eggs. For those with smaller appetites, there are choices of fruit, pastries, including some amazing blueberry muffins, and cereal or oatmeal.  Dinner is just as tasty with a changing menu of salads, pasta dishes, entrees, and sandwiches.

Open from 4 PM until 11 PM daily, the Sonoma Lobby Bar offers a variety of intriguing small plates and tapas. Who can resist trying the Porcini Mushroom Arancini, a blend of Arborio Rice, White Wine, Fontina Cheese, Porcini and Crimini Mushrooms, or the smoked fish dip with tostones? Here’s where you’ll find the specialty drinks like the Honey Bee, made with flavored Smirnoff Vodka, simple syrup, lime juice, and cranberry juice, to the Lovers Cocktail made with Mionetto Prosecco, pineapple juice, and raspberry mix. They also serve a variety of liquors, craft beer, and wines.
