Getting ready for baby with a snu:mee Monitor

Thanks to snu:mee for partnering with us. Today Brittany tells us why she loves her new snu:mee.
Have you ever heard of snu:mee? Probably not, because this baby monitor/noise machine is currently only available in Europe. However, they just launched their crowd-funding campaign in the USA, and we were lucky enough to get a snu:mee to try out.

I’ve been stuck in bed a lot during this pregnancy, so I’ve spent a lot of time researching different baby products. When it came to monitors and sound machines, though? I was stuck. I found some great sound machines. I found some great baby monitors. I found some combinations that were okay, but nothing special. When we were offered a chance to try a snu:mee  for review, I jumped at the chance. Not only did the snu:mee work as both a sound machine and a baby monitor, we also got the chance to choose one shaped like a lamb!

When my mom called my dad to tell him to hurry home because we had a big surprise for him on the day of our pregnancy announcement, he had some worries. In fact, his first words were “what kind of critter did y’all bring home now?” It was a fateful statement, because we began jokingly referring to the baby as Critter until we could learn the gender. Jokingly, we planned a woodland critter themed nursery. Now, sheep aren’t woodland critters, but I’m pretty liberal with my definition of critter, and my parents have a herd of sheep. Sheep shaped things have slowly begun sneaking their way into the nursery among the raccoons, hedgehogs, and foxes. The snu:mee fits right in. If lambs aren’t your thing, there are a variety of other soft and cuddly sleeves, so you’ll be sure to find one to your liking.

As a baby monitor, the snu:mee has a 300 meter signal range with a secure connection. I don’t know about you, but after hearing news stories about people hacking into baby monitors, I am ALL about a secure connection!

As an MP3 player and WiFi speaker, the snu:mee can be controlled both by its buttons and by the associated app. I use my phone as an alarm, so my phone is always nearby. This makes changing the music or turning it off extremely convenient- I don’t even have to get up and walk across the hall to turn the music off, and risk waking a sleeping baby by creeping into their room. It has 4GB of memory to hold music, so there will be plenty of room for different songs in case you can’t find a lullaby to your baby’s liking! It also has a 60 decibel volume limit, so you don’t accidentally blast the music too loud for those little baby ears.

The app to control the snu:mee is available for free on iPhone and Android, so you don’t have to be loyal to a certain brand of phone to try the snu:mee out. What is your best advice for a new mom? What baby products were the most helpful for you?
