My mom was a clean freak. She extolled the virtues of having a clean home. “You never know, Pamela,” she would say, “when there will be an emergency. You don’t want someone coming in and discovering the house is dirty, do you?” Obviously she was also a bit of a worrywart. I was confused by this logic, suspecting no one would care how the house looked in an actual emergency, but took it to heart. I always get up twenty minutes early and straighten the house “just in case.” I tried this statement on my kids with no success. “Who cares if it is straightened?” is their motto. Naturally, when Scotch-Brite offered me the gift of clean, involving my kids to clean around the house, I was ecstatic. I caught them in action, cleaning for me, as proof and, possibly, for future guilt trips. “Remember the time you cleaned the house for me?” Sigh. “Wouldn’t you like to do that again for your loving mom?”
While enjoying the gift of clean, I discovered some products which will become part of my daily repertoire. Here are my favorites:
The Printed Lint Roller: Living in a house with three long haired cats sometimes I feel as if a layer of black fur covers all our surfaces. This chic printed design is fun to look at, but more importantly, a quick roll over our furniture before having people over ensures a fur free experience for them. It also works well on clothing, especially white pants.
The Printed Microfiber Dish Cloth: This cloth not only controls odor and bacteria, but soaks up 50% more water than regular cotton clothes, getting me out of the kitchen faster. Kitchen cleanup is one of my least favorite chores. Sshh! It’s a secret! I use this dish cloth all over the house to clean up spills, wipe up messes and do quick dusting touch ups. When I’m through I throw it in the washing machine and dryer and it’s ready to go again.
The Disposable Toilet Scrubber Starter Pack: Toilet Bowl cleaning, a chore everyone in the family leaves for me has never been easier. I can attach the scrub brush to the wand and I am good to go. The brush fits under the rim in those hard to reach areas and can be disposed of when I am done. No more smelly and unsanitary toilet brush for me!
The Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge: This removes dried and baked on messes on the pots and pans the rest of the family forget to soak. Remember my out of the kitchen faster rule. It’s also good for dried messes family members forget and leave on the grill and dried messes in the rest of the house too!
I may not be able to convince my family to give me the gift of clean often, but I can speed clean my way through my house, thanks to Scotch-Brite.

Cleaning is my best anger management – I secretly love it. I would still happily let the kids take over for a day for Mommy though!

I never realized that Scotch Brite had so many products! I always knew them for the green and yellow scrub pads. All of their other products look amazing. I will have to keep my eyes peeled for them at the store from now on!
I always tidy up just-in-case, too. I think though, that it’s more because I have a hard time sitting down to work on the computer if I haven’t ‘set my space’ 🙂
We are clean freaks and we own a number of those products. My son cares just as much about the house being clean as me and he is six. Heaven forbid we go to house house that isn’t clean my son won’t even go inside. I think I once and I mean only once we went to a house that wasn’t clean he took his little jacket and sat it on their couch and sat on it. He wouldn’t eat their food or move from that spot he was scare death that they probably had bugs and he didn’t want to chance catching anything…lol and that was when he was 4.
Haha! Too funny. My mom was a clean freak too, and definitely gave us the “just in case” speech every now and again. Sadly her cleaning habits didn’t rub off on me – BUT I do love Scotch products. We use their sponges daily.
I am a bit late with spring cleaning this year. Looks like I need to pick up some scotch brite products and get to cleaning!

Awe…what an amazing gift from wonderful kids! All I wanted for Mother’s Day was for someone to clean out the fridge. I got lots of great gifts, but no clean fridge!

Ha, love the video, I want my kids to clean! They’re only 4 and 2 though 😉 I hate cleaning, growing up I was only taught that it’s a “chore.” So my tip is to do little bits frequently so it never piles up into one big cleaning fest – and I should try harder to practice that 😉

I havent tried many of the scotch brite items other than the dish sponge and lint roller. Im a Mr.clean kinda girl.

I have always used scotch brite and then I switched to something else and had to switch right back. I’m pretty comfortable with knowing that I’m not having to work harder to get something clean 🙂
I use mostly Scotch Brite products myself. I love those toilet scrubbers. And you will always find a supply of the sponges in my kitchen. Their product last longer and work better.

I do not know what I would do without lint rollers! From dog hair to lint on dark clothes, I love my Scotch rollers!

i love anything that makes cleaning easier for both me and my kids. My son loves to do “chores” to earn extra toys and activities. So some of these would be perfect for him to help out around the house with.

I’d love to try all of those Scotch Brite cleaning products! Especially the Printed Lint Roller, we sure could use a lot of those in our house. I used to be very messy growing up and my mom was always the one straightening everything out like the rug had to be perfect and the cans turned face forward in the cabinet. I’m not that obsessed but I do like to keep a clean house and am always on the look out for good cleaning products that get the job done.

Cleaning is probably my least favorite activity of all time. When I do clean it is because I found a fun new tools that makes cleaning a bit easier and slightly more fun. Going to have to see if I can find a few of their microfiber dish cloths.
I tend to buy Scotch scrubbing pads but didn’t realize that they made so much more. Now I’ll have to pay further attention when next I’m buying cleaning supplies at Walmart.

My youngest loves lint rollers. We use them all the time because of our pets. I am also a clean freak and completely understand where your mom is coming from. I of course have my husband who will send me at text saying he is running by the house with his boss to grab something and I am never home to tidy up a bit – it has to be clean for the unexpected visits.
I want a basket or bucket like this. Never tried the disposable toilet cleaner but do like the gel stuff you leave in.
