Sometimes I wonder if my cats realize they are cats. Until our twelve year old cat, Sassie, begin to acquire siblings three years ago, we were convinced she thought she was a small, very furry human. Having been an only cat for nine years, she is still not thrilled with sharing her house with others and spent a lot of time the first year looking at Mitzie with a look of amazement and confusion. Our two year old, Okie, is convinced he is a predatory cat. Whenever we watch a television program with lions or tigers he positions himself directly in front of the television screen. He will watch the entire episode and bat at the television each time the lion or tiger tries to catch prey. I’m not sure if he thinks he is a mighty hunter or is offering moral support and encouragement to his relatives, but we always get a kick out of watching him trying to catch animals on television. This is the only type of program he will do this with. Generally he turns his nose up disdainfully and leaves the room when the television is turned on, or, if he is feeling social, curls up on the rug beside the sofa and goes to sleep.
That’s why I got a kick out of this hilarious video of dogs and cats watching TV. Because, really, who doesn’t love a funny animal video? Watching the cat on the video trying to catch the elusive rat or the dog wandering around the television screen to see “where is that pesky cat?” made me giggle. I could image all of my cats trying to pounce on that rat. Where did it go? Where did it go? I know it was just here!
I wonder if Santa would bring my pets a LG 4K TV? It has amazing clarity and with a 4K HD TV I bet they would think the lion or tiger was in the room with us. I can only imagine Okie’s delight if he thought he was as big as a real lion.
