WeCool Toys are Creative Fun

2020 has been a challenge. Our 4-year old’s preschool closed in mid-March and isn’t set to reopen until 2021. She misses the interaction with her friends and the stimulating STEM activities presented by her teachers. We’ve been trying to find ways to keep her busy without an excess of screentime. When we received these fun crafting kits from WeCool Toys, she couldn’t wait to try them.

Samples were received but all opinions are our own.

WeCool Toys

WeCool Toys was developed in 2015 by Jeff Osnato and Ross Alber who wanted to create innovative products using the kids’ favorite, slime. Today, they offer toys in five categories; Activity Kings, Construction Kings, Bubble Kings, Compound Kings, and Crazy Cleanz Hand Sanitizer. We were lucky enough to receive four of the WeCool Activity King Products, the DIY Hydro Bottle, the Insta Studio, the DIY Scruncheeze Loom, and the Puraloom Bracelet Maker. Here’s how the toys stood up to our testing.

WeCool DIY Hydro BottleThis kit includes a BPA-free water bottle, 4 sticker sheets with over 60+ stickers, 2 doodle markers in pink and blue, and an easy to follow instruction sheet. Two of the sticker sheets have traditional colored stickers, while two can be colored with the doodle markers to make your own designs.

WeCool DIY Hydro Bottle Set.

Although this kit is recommended for ages 6+, who could do this project all by themselves, it was easy to do with a 4-year-old with a little supervision. I helped her place the first two stickers on the water bottle so they would be straight and without wrinkles. Afterward, she added the rest herself.

Not only did she enjoy creating the bottle, but she’s also excited about carrying it on adventures after discovering it can be hooked to her backpack. One tip: Since the kit only includes 2 markers, you might want to invest in a set of nonwashable, nontoxic markers if you’d like more variety for the DIY stickers.

DIY Scruncheeze Loom- This was my personal favorite since I wear Scrunchies often when I’m at home. The kit includes 7 printed fabric strips, 4 satin fabric strips, 3 charms, 2 colored fabric elastic cords, 1 white elastic cord, fabric glue, and an easy-to-follow instruction sheet. Tip: for this project, you’ll need to have a pair of scissors and a ruler handy before you begin.

This kit is designed for ages 6+, but, once again, it was easy enough for the 4-year-old to help. She was able to measure the elastic, help thread the string and the fabric onto the loom, remove the scrunchie from the loom, and add the fabric glue. The instructions were so clearly written it would have been impossible to mess up on this project. That’s my kind of craft. The entire process took around 10 minutes to make one scrunchie so it’s good for short attention spans too.

WeCool Insta-Studio-This was the 4-year-old’s favorite because she was able to do two of her favorite things; make videos and play with slime. The kit includes 3 bags of scented slime, blue raspberry, pink bubblegum, and orange citrus, two bags of sparkling glitter, 3 bags of mini beads in pink, purple, and rainbow, a pack of large rainbow beads, a mixing tool, 2 backgrounds, and a clear placemat, and a video station stand. All you need to bring to this kit is a phone and some imagination!

This kit is designed for ages 4+. She didn’t need any help from me on this project other than assembling the video station. The backgrounds can be covered by the clear placemat to keep them safe while in use. The video station makes it easy to film hands-free and can be lengthened or shortened in height. She had a great time making her “insta-videos” and was not happy when we had to stop for the evening. The slime was fun to create also. She was able to mix colors, stretch it, and make designs.
NOTE: SINCE OUR ORIGINAL REVIEW, THE INSTA STUDIO HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY RENAMED TO SOCIAL STUDIO!

The renamed SocialStudio is the same as the Instastudio.

WeCool 3-in-1 Pura Loom Deluxe Bracelet Maker– This kit includes a deluxe pura loom bracelet tool, 100 metallic accent beads, 4 satin cords, 2 wax cotton cords, 3 knotting cords, 7 friendship threads, 1 charm, 1 jump ring, 1 lobster clasp, 10 s-hook clips, and an easy-to-follow instruction sheet. The loom folds so it can be taken on road trips or vacations to keep the kids occupied. The loom can be used to make three types of bracelets; woven, knotted, or twisted. We were able to set up the loom in around a minute and begin making bracelets.

This set is designed for ages 6+ and was a little more difficult for the 4-year-old, but still easy enough to use with help. We’ve only made twist bracelets so far, but we plan to branch out and try the others soon. The good thing about these kits is that you can use them over and over. While the bracelet maker makes about 20 bracelets with the contents of the package, you could pick up embroidery thread from the craft store and make more.

Once we discovered the Insta-Studio we had to make videos of all our projects.

All of these activity kits retail for $19.99, except for the Pura-Loom, which retails for $24.99. They are available on Amazon or at Target stores and Target.com. You can find WeCool on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

These activity kits would make the perfect holiday gift for someone special in your life! Which kit was your favorite?
