The older I get the more I learn the importance of making healthy choices.  Recently I decided to rework my health goals.  I made a commitment to drink more water, exercise more often and take better care of my skin.  The only problem I have with my new found wellness ideas is learning how to keep myself motivated.  I mean, how much easier is it to skip exercising when I am busy?  I needed something to give me the metaphorical kick in the pants.  When talking to a friend recently she told me, “I love the Balance Rewards App from Walgreens. You get rewarded for healthy choices. It’s easy to get 5000 Balance Reward points.” Um, what? 5000 points equals five bucks I can spend in the store.  I couldn’t believe it! I could get healthy and save money? That’s a winning combination to me!

The program is a breeze to use. I can link it to a device, like a Fitbit, or download the app and sync it automatically. I downloaded the device to my iPhone and began to track my progress as I continued my journey to fitness.  To ensure my walks weren’t boring, I found  some of the loveliest  places in the Chattanooga, Tennessee  Area and I am sharing them with you!
RiverWalk, Chattanooga, Tennessee

1. The Chattanooga Riverwalk.  With over eight miles of trails, this area has everything from wildlife to city views.  There are plenty of stops designed to allow anyone to walk down to the river and step in the edge when a break is needed!
Point Park, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee
2. Point Park, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee  Not only can I hike down the mountain if I am feeling especially  energetic, there are easy walking trails along the top.  People can walk to the edge of the cliff and see stunning views of the city if they are not afraid of falling off the side!
the walnut street bridge
3.  The Walnut Street Bridge  This is a great family and pet friendly walking bridge. Completely restored and opened to the public in 1993, this bridge links Coolidge Park with the vibrant  downtown Chattanooga area.  One of my friends and I have been using this as a walking path with the kids since they were babies.  The kids’ favorite activity was trying to spit over the side when we weren’t looking.

The Walgreens Balance Rewards for Healthy Choices app has made me rediscover my love of the city, helped me begin to make healthy choices again and is rewarding me for doing this! What’s not to love?
