Upset Pets: They have Tummy Trouble Too!

This is a partnered post with Purina. However, I use Purina products and all opinions are my own.
At the end of April my daughter began to complain of stomach issues. We have spent months at the doctor’s office or in the hospital, trying to resolve her issues. It’s been a constant struggle and we’re glad to have a team of doctors who try to accommodate her needs. But, did you know pets can have Gastrointestinal (GI) upset too? It’s a common complaint among owners and a top reason pets visit the vet. GI upset in pets can be caused by a number of things; over eating or under eating, motion sickness (says the person who let their cat ride in the car one day), changes in diet, or more serious reasons.

How can you tell if your pet has GI? He can become sick suddenly, vomit, have excessive thirst and no appetite for food. He could even spend a lot of time burping and have (more than usual) foul breath.  He will probably exhibit fatigue and lethargy.  If this is a common problem with your pet, Purina has you (and your pet!) covered with their NEW Purina® Pro Plan® Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Naturals™ With Added Vitamins and Minerals, available in canine and feline formulas. Designed to provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult dog’s or growing puppy’s special need, these formulas include moderate fat, low fiber, good taste and are highly digestible.

The new Purina® Pro Plan® Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Naturals™ is only available  through your vet,  so if your pet has GI symptoms, talk to them about the new formula. If untreated, GI upset can lead to complications such as dehydration, chronic diarrhea and anemia along with weight loss. It is very important to take your pet to the vet if the symptoms persist more than 24 hours.

I plan to try Purina® Pro Plan® Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Naturals™ on our elderly cat who has lost her appetite. I’ll let you know the results soon.
