Weekend Relaxing at the Wyndham Peachtree City

My family received the media rate for Wyndham Peachtree City.  All opinions expressed are my own and my family’s. Any additional expenses incurred were my own.

I planned our Wyndham Weekend as a surprise to Bryan. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary (Yes, we got married at a young age) and I thought this would be a romantic getaway. I was the one who received the surprise when he told me he wouldn’t be able to schedule time off from work on such short notice. I decided to do the next best thing and take my newly married daughter and her husband as a sort of a spur of the moment weekend treat. I didn’t realize Peachtree City is approximately 30 minutes below Atlanta, but it’s close enough to be near attractions and far enough away to be out of the noise and traffic. Nestled into a wooded setting and overflowing with flowers, the Wyndham Peachtree Hotel and Conference Center beckoned us to explore the grounds.

When we arrived, the hotel was packed, but the staff at the front desk checked me in quickly and we were in our room in no time. The “kids” immediately plopped down on one of the beds, equipped with Wyndham’s special pillowtop mattresses, and declared they were “too comfy to get up.” They changed their mind when they glanced outdoors at the pool and hurried to get into their bathing suits while I caught up on a little work. (Did I mention they offer free wi-fi and free parking? Woot!)

By the time I had finished my work, the kids had arrived back into the room and we decided to take a spin around town in one of the golf carts that is available to rent from the hotel. Peachtree City is designed to be golf cart friendly, with over 90 miles of golf cart trails, and is the preferred way of transportation with the locals. We spent several hours exploring the paths and even going through a fast food drive thru for ice cream to see if we could. (The answer: Yes, it is not a big deal. Everyone does it.)

The next morning we decided to have breakfast at the onsite restaurant, The Terrace. They have a breakfast buffet with an amazing spread of Southern goodies—biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, grits, eggs and a potato dish that was out of this world. For those of us who didn’t want a “heavy breakfast,” they had a fruit bar, a do it yourself oatmeal bar, omelets and waffles made to order, pastries, toast and cereal. It was the first time Justin had ever had biscuits and gravy and he was on cloud nine. “How have I never had this before?” he asked.

I wanted to try the pool, but I like heated pools more than outdoor pools. While the kids swam in the indoor pool, I relaxed in the massive whirlpool. This pool was bigger than most kiddie pools and certainly bigger than any whirlpool I had seen before. Located next door to the indoor pool is their huge 10000 square feet workout facility. It even has a racquetball court! I reminisced on my racquetball playing days and debated on whether I wanted to play a round, but ultimately decided, “Nope, I am going to relax in the whirlpool.”

I was sad to leave a relaxing weekend and my daughter was sad to leave the True Blue Bath and Body Work amenities found in the bathrooms. “Can we buy these in the store?” she asked me. We left, feeling relaxed and stuffed from breakfast, reluctant to return to the “real world.”

If You Go:
If you are a Walking Dead Fan, The Wyndham Peachtree and Convention center is also located close to Senoia, where scenes from the show are filmed.
For those who like to be active, there are also tennis courts, basketball courts located on the property.
If you don’t want to rent a golf cart, it is still an easy walk into the town.
The Wyndham Peachtree City Hotel and Conference Center is very kid friendly.
