Let’s Hit The Beach! Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

My dreams would come true if I were able to live near a beach. Since that is not possible right now, a beach vacation is the next best thing! My kids, who clamor for a trip to the beach anytime a vacation is planned, could not believe it when I told them we would be planning a trip to the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, a 2400 acre family friendly resort with seven miles of beaches and bayfront.  I listened to several choruses of, “Seriously?” and “You are planning on taking kids on this trip, right, Mom?” before they accepted the good news and bombarded me with questions of, “When are we going? Have you planned the dates yet?”

Fall is the perfect time to go to the beach.  It’s less crowded and the weather is still warm enough for splashing, swimming or like I prefer, walking along the edge of the water with the waves gently overlapping my feet.  The Sandestin provides kayaks and boogie boards so the kids will have plenty to do while I relax on the beach with a book.  After spending some time at the beach, I like to enjoy other activities away from the water. Boy, does the Sandestin have plenty! They have nineteen swimming pools, fifteen world class tennis courts, four championship golf courses,  bicycle rental and a fitness center and spa.  I am always up for some pampering.

The Sandestin has several types of rooms available to meet the needs of different families.  There’s traditional style hotel rooms, complete with microwaves and mini fridges, two and three bedroom villas and townhouses with kitchen and dining units, and one, two and three bedroom units in the nearby village of Baytowne Wharf, which also include kitchens and dining areas.

Named the a top all around resort by Convention Magazine in 2013 and a 2010 top destination by Frommer’s,  the Sandestin has something for everyone in the family.

  5. I’ve never been to a Sandestin Resort, but the beach in Fall sounds wonderful! We didn’t take a summer vacation this year because my husband’s work was so busy, but I’m hoping that we can plan a getaway around Thanksgiving time.
