Layered DIY Sugar Body Scrub

DIY Layered Sugar Scrub

“Mom, the cat just had a hairball on the floor,” on kid shouts, while I dash through the house trying to grab the phone, answer the doorbell and rescue a pot on the stove that is attempting to overflow. Those are scenes from a typical day in my life. I spend the day going, going, going.  By the time I fall into bed at night, I’m exhausted and ready for a good night’s sleep.  Does this happen? No.  Instead, thoughts dash through my head, “If I drop this kid off here, I can make it over here to pick up this one. And did I pay the water bill? I like having indoor plumbing!”  I decided I needed some stress relief.  What better way to do this than with pampering myself with a relaxing hot bath using this DIY Sugar Body Scrub?  Not only is it pretty, it’s low cost and smells great. I used H-insomnia formula from Healing Natural Oils for the fragrance. The lemon scent, combined with other herbs, leaves me feeling relaxed and refreshed. If you don’t want to use that, then use your favorite essential oil. Lavender or peppermint are two of my favorites.

Layered DIY Sugar Body Scrub
Author: Pam
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • 2 cups (16 ounces) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) melted coconut oil
  • 15 drops H-insomnia Formula essential oil
  • pastel food coloring in pink and yellow
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar and melted coconut oil. Add the essential oil and stir. Divide the mixture evenly between three bowls. Add pink food coloring into the first bowl until you have the color you would like. I used about five drops. Add yellow food coloring to the second bowl of sugar and stir. Leave one bowl white. Layer the sugar scrub beginning with the pink into a pint jar. Be sure to press the mixture down firmly with a spoon so it is packed. Top with the white sugar mixture. Tap down firmly with a spoon. Repeat with the yellow sugar mixture. Store in the fridge and remove when needed for a wonderful, stress relieving bath or shower.

If you have never heard of Healing Natural Oils, they have been selling all natural products, with no pesticides, herbicides or synthetic chemicals for over 12 years.  A huge plus to me is the products are cruelty free. I don’t get to soak in the tub as often as I would like, meaning hardly ever, but I do spread a few drops on my wrist before bedtime each night.  Because, really, isn’t my family happier when I am less stressed? Trust me, they would agree.
