Honey Dijon Salad Dressing Recipe

Yesterday I talked about our love of salads.  Need a light lunch or dinner? Salad. Want to use up some leftover meat and veggies? Salad.  Need a simple side dish that comes together in a hurry? Salad.  Want to add something to soup or sandwiches so you can call it a meal? Salad.  Of course, dressing is what makes salad complete.  Once I discovered how simple it is to make homemade dressing, I begin making our own and never looked back. This light, fluffy Honey Dijon Dressing is a staple at our house.

After the success of our Creamy Parmesan Italian Dressing recipe, I was inspired to try even more dressing recipes. The same friend who originally shared a dressing recipe with me gave me a variation for this Honey Dijon Dressing Recipe.  Sort-of.  She suggested adding some ingredients and taking out others, but I wasn’t sure what stayed in the recipe, what was excluded, and what was added.  I did some experimenting of my own and came up with this version that our family enjoys. It’s easy, naturally gluten-free, and doesn’t have all the preservatives I can’t pronounce.

And, did I mention it’s also made of common pantry and refrigerator ingredients? No complicated, hard-to-find ingredients here! This recipe works for more than just dressing. It’s a delicious marinade that can be used for chicken or pork and works well as a sauce. Just warm it and spoon over roasted or baked chicken or pork loin.

Dressing Preparation Tips

1. This works well when mixed in a blender. To make sure it is blended properly, add the liquid ingredients before adding the spices.
2. If you prefer, you can place all the ingredients in a pint Mason jar and shake until blended.
3. Make this dressing a couple of hours in advance to allow flavors to meld.
4. You can add more or fewer spices and other ingredients to suit your taste.
5. You can substitute dried garlic powder or dried minced garlic for the fresh garlic. Use one teaspoon of either the garlic powder or dried minced garlic instead of fresh garlic.
6. Have fresh herbs? Use 1 tablespoon fresh minced marjoram and 1 tablespoon fresh minced parsley instead of dried.

How to Easily Remove Honey from The Measuring Cup

This is one of my favorite tips because it’s so easy! Just spray the measuring cup with nonstick cooking spray before adding the honey or other sticky liquid. It will slide right out and cleanup will be a breeze.

An easy, gluten-free honey Dijon salad dressing. Also works well as a marinade or sauce.

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard (use to taste)

  • 2 teaspoons fresh minced garlic (add more to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

  • Add mayonnaise, vinegar, honey, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard to a blender. Add garlic, dried marjoram, pepper, and dried parsley. Pulse until blended, about 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.

Notes

  • This does not do well if frozen.

This dressing will keep up to one week when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Because the dressing includes mayonnaise, it should not be frozen. Freezing will change the texture of the mayonnaise. If you’ve tried the dressing recipe, let us know! We’d love to hear from you.  Do you make your own salad dressings?
