Hometown Help from Champions For Kids

This is a sponsored post with Champions for Kids and the Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

“I do not like being poor,” my daughter informed me crossly. The year was 2008 and the company Bryan worked for at the time was floundering.  He had taken a huge pay cut, and with my daughter’s costly medical bills, we were struggling. We had always tried to help people in need, but this was a turning point. I vowed when we got back on our feet I would make sure my children knew the importance of helping others in need. That’s one of the reasons I love working with Champions For Kids.  They work with local communities helping provide much needed food for kids. When I was invited to join forces with Champions for Kids, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Emerald and Kettle Chips in their #SnacksforStudents champion, I knew just the organization! My son’s school and the local food bank work together and this was a perfect opportunity to help kids who go home to empty cupboards.

Champions for Kids has an ambitious goal, they want to help 10 million children across the US in 2015.  One of the ways they propose to help is through the Simple Giving  #Snacksforstudents campaign, a program that hopes to make it simple for shoppers to purchase and donate items children need. Here’s how you can help: Just visit any one of the 3600 participating Walmart stores across the country and pick up a few food items.  On your way out, drop the food off in the Champions for Kids bin.  All the food stays in your community, helping kids in your area.

Even better, during the #SnacksforStudents campaign,  Champions for Kids, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Emerald and Kettle Chips will provide 13 awards, totaling $45,000, to school districts and participating youth-based organizations.  They’ll be providing the awards based on the total number of donated items collected in each store, so now is the perfect time to donate!

Being able to help others in need is a great feeling.  I’m excited to be able to participate and try to ensure no kids in our area go to bed hungry.  Want to learn more? .

I want to thank you and others who donate to these causes because it really does help and as humbling as it is asking for help, it’s even better to give back. Thank you for sharing this information. I’ll be checking locally to see if we have this in our area so I can pay it forward.
