A good night’s sleep is so important. Scientists have proven the health benefits of getting enough sleep; including playing a critical role in immune function, metabolism, memory and learning. One of the best ways to get adequate rest is having a comfortable mattress. When I was offered a chance to try the GhostBed Mattress by Nature’s Sleep, I couldn’t wait to receive it. I had heard excellent reviews from friends who assured me I would love it.
The GhostBed experience allows us to ship the showroom, shop online and have the mattress delivered straight to our door. The unboxing process takes a few steps, but the mattress can be used almost immediately. After removing the mattress from the box, we allowed it to sit in the shrink wrapped packaging for an hour to adjust to room temperature. The mattress did look a little small at the time, causing my husband to question, “Is this a queen?” Once we removed the shrink wrap, the mattress expanded immediately. I left the mattress lying on the floor of our bedroom to recover from its compressed state (which can take up to 24 hours). My son walked through the house after I had opened it and exclaimed, “Wow! Did you see how much bigger the mattress is now?” Yes. Yes, I did.
Once the mattress was fully recovered, meaning all the surfaces were smooth and lifted, we placed it on our bed. Note: The directions say the mattress might have a harmless minor odor due to the packaging process. This is normal and will dissipate in a few days. I noticed our mattress did have a minor odor, which I couldn’t smell unless I had my face pressed into the mattress. It was not bothersome and hardly noticeable when I placed the mattress cover and sheets onto the bed.
The GhostBed feels comfortable because of differences on the inside and the outside, created after years of experience and testing. The inside contains a 1 1/2 inch continuous aerated latex foam, a 2 inch gel memory foam and a 7 1/2 high density base layer. Lying down on the mattress, I felt cool. That’s because the gel memory foam has a proprietary formula to make it reactive to the body for cooler nights and the aerated latex foam doesn’t retain heat. I can’t wait until summer. No more nights lying in bed unable to get comfortable because it’s so hot I can’t get comfortable.
The outside of the mattress has a soft, comfy cover designed to have a plush feel. The absolute best part? The cover zips off for easy spot cleaning! If you have kids, you know how much of a blessing it is to be able to clean the mattress easily! It’s also handcrafted for durability and long-life and is CertiPUR-US certified. I wasn’t sure what Certi-PUR US certification meant, so I looked it up. Basically, it means it is made without a lot of things like ozone depleters, mercury, lead , heavy metals or formaldehyde, and has a low VOC, all the things I wouldn’t want in a mattress.
I was also impressed with their 101 night sleep trial , 100% customer satisfaction policy and 20 year warranty. It also doesn’t hurt to be priced 25% less than similar competitor products. So, how does it sleep? It’s firm, yet it seems to contour to my body. I can feel the coolness of the gel surrounding my body and the cover is incredibly soft and plush.
