When the kids were younger one of their favorite treats was “surprise night.” While it didn’t happen often, after all, it was a surprise, we would pile the kids in the car after they got into their pajamas and were ready for bed, and head to Dairy Queen to treat the kids to Ice Cream. I would have a Peanut Butter Sundae, my favorite, while the rest of the family enjoyed Blizzards. These are ice cream drinks so thick they can be turned upside down when we first received them and no ice cream would fall out. Note: I do not recommend doing this as the kids think they can do this later when the ice cream starts to melt and they wind up covered in ice cream.
Dairy Queen has all sorts of Blizzards for every taste, Cookie Lovers, Candy Cravers, Fruit Fans, Chocoholics, and a special flavor each month. But, this summer, they are having a special promotion using S’mores. That’s right, all the ooey, gooey goodness of S’mores in an ice cream treat. When I read the description ” We start with crunchy Honey Maid® graham crackers and rich chocolate chunks filled with gooey marshmallow, then we whip it up in cool DQ® soft serve. The next thing you know you’ve got the one and only S’mores Blizzard® Treat,” I knew it was time for a visit to Dairy Queen. Even though the kids are older and don’t wear their pajamas to get ice cream now, they’re still always ready to go for an ice cream treat. I didn’t have to say “lunch at Dairy Queen” more than once before the kids almost ran over me to get to the car.
I had the $5 lunch special which included 3 chicken fingers, onion rings, a drink and an upgrade to a small Smores Blizzard. And, yes, it was delicious! Rich, thick, ice cream filled with chunks of chocolate and graham crackers, plus bits of marshmallow, who could go wrong with that? My son remarked, “I always think of Smores as more of a fall thing.” I told him, “It’s added to ice cream so that makes it even better!” The Blizzard was actually very filling. I had dessert first, something I don’t do often, and saved the rest of my meal for later.

Our nearest DQ is about 20 minutes away. I wish it was closer! My favorite is the Mint Oreo Blizzard! It’s delicious!
I have never eaten at a Dairy Queen. There is a large one that has a drive thru but I am ne’er in the mood when I pass it. I know my dog wouldn’t mind some vanilla, and I do love s’mores. May need to go visit Dairy Queen now

I love DQ blizzards. I have not tried the Smores Blizzard yet! I will have to give it a try. I love getting the value meals. Thanks for letting me know about a new blizzard to try!

Would you believe (with how much fast food I eat) I’ve never had DQ! They opened one around the corner and I’ve been dying to try their chicken….. Maybe tonight!
We have a local grill and chill here. The last time I went we all had hot fudge sundaes. Those were always my favorite.
I will be honest I haven’t eaten at DQ for years. Of course I love s’mores so once they announced the new blizzard I took my son to get one. I love them they are the best!

Our closest DQ is about 45 minutes away but every once in awhile I get a craving and make the drive.
