I’ve been adding a collectable Christmas ornament to our tree every year since Bryan and I were married. We’ve purchased Baby’s first Christmas ornaments for each of the kids, a small house ornament the year we moved into our new home and ornaments for any other milestone in our lives. My entire collection was ruined three years ago when a possum chewed a hole through the bottom of our backyard shed and took up residence where my ornaments were stored. Believe me, going into the shed, picking up a box marked “Christmas ornaments” and having a possum pop out, bared to attack, is a memorable experience.
I started rebuilding my keepsake collection at Ornaments with Love. It’s a family owned company that has been in business for sixteen years and has a massive collection of ornaments available, over 2000! The personalization is included in the cost and shipping is free on orders of over $50. Last year I received a cat ornament to mark the addition of our new kitten, Mitzie, into the family.
This year I tried to think of what I wanted to commemorate with an ornament. My daughter had gone away to college, should I choose a college ornament? We had gotten (another) rescue kitten. Did I want to add an ornament to the tree for him? On a whim, I decided to order an ornament for myself. After all, as moms we almost always put our family first. I realized I had never had an ornament that celebrated any of my accomplishments over the years. Browsing through their site, I found the perfect one, a woman sitting at a desk staring at a computer. That’s me! I ordered the ornament and had Blogging Queen added as the caption. I can’t wait to add it to the tree!
One warning about the ornaments-they can break. I had the cat ornament on the tree last year and Mitzie managed to knock over our entire tree. When I returned it to its proper position and picked up the pieces, I noticed the tip of the tail was missing on the ornament. I know that’s an extreme case but kids and pets do manage to knock off ornaments frequently. Do you purchase personalized ornaments each year?
cute! I have several personalized ornaments from when I was a kid. They really do add meaning to a decoration for years to come!

I always pick up a personalized one when a baby is born in the family. It is a nice heirloom to keep for them when they become an adult and have a tree of their own.

I love the blogging queen one…I sometimes will buy an ornament with the kids names already on them, like the ones at Hallmark. Love these ornaments they look great!
