Four Low Cost Ways to Perk Up Your Summer Wardrobe

I may not be a fashionista, but I do like to look good while not spending a bundle. While my daughter does complain that I am out of step with the latest fashions, as long as I feel attractive that’s all that matters. I’ve been scouring the web for hints on how to create a classic, stylish wardrobe for a song and found the following tips.

1. Use neutral colors as the base of your outfit.
I have a pair of white pants and a pair of white capris that I dress up with funky colored tops. They add a pop of color and scream spring and summer.

2. Buy clothing you can dress up or down.
Pick out tops or bottoms that can be transformed from casual to dressy with a change of accessories, shoes or different pieces of clothing. I own several tops that I switch around to create different outfits. This works especially well for days I don’t have time to go home and change clothing.

3. Layer, layer, layer.
An outfit can be completely changed with the addition of a blazer or a sweater. Try layering two different types of shirts, like a cami and a button down. I do this a lot because I never know what the temperature will be in different buildings. I am usually cold natured and this helps me be warm in the store and strip down when I leave.

4. Add an accessory.
Have a dress that needs a quick update? Add a stylish scarf. Have a shirt that is a little out of style? Maybe adding some cute new buttons would help. It’s easier to add a lower cost accessory than purchase an entirely new outfit. While you are looking for accessories to perk up your wardrobe, don’t forget to use a coupon code to save some money.
