Nothing gets the morning started like a cup of flavored coffee. I would love to spend the morning at my local coffee shop, sipping my cappuccino and gradually waking up for the day. There are two problems with this scenario. Buying those fancy coffee drinks put a major cramp in my budget. Even if I had an unlimited budget, my mornings are too rushed to spend sitting in a coffee shop.
We recently tried Nestle Memento, the new single serving size cappuccino I can make at home by adding hot water. Available in three flavors, Mocha, Caramel, and creamy Cappuccino, these packets produce the foam that makes cappuccinos tasty, but costs around 54 cents per serving. They’ve been a hit with my college age daughter and her friends. So much so that she asked for a package to be included in her latest care package. Weighing in at 100 calories per eight ounce serving, it’s an indulgence we can all afford.
While we’ve been enjoying our Mementos, my favorite new product, in terms of versatility has to be Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Creamer. These creamers are made with all natural ingredients, no artificial anything, and are available in vanilla, sweet cream, caramel and low fat vanilla. My son has been adding a splash of the caramel to his Caramel memento each morning for a richer, more intense caramel flavor.
The creamer is good added to coffee, but I’ve discovered it can be used in tons of recipes, like Crème Brulee, smoothies, puddings, custards and even homemade ice cream. I used the sweet cream flavor to make a yummy peanut butter milkshake.
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
3/4 cup vanilla ice cream
¼ cup Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Sweet Cream
2 tablespoons chocolate chips, optional
Whipped cream for topping, optional
Directions:
Mix peanut butter, ice cream and natural bliss in a blender until smooth. Stir in 1 ½ tablespoons chocolate chips. Top with whipped cream and reserved ½ tablespoon chocolate chips. You could substitute an eight ounce cartoon vanilla greek yogurt for the ice cream and freeze the mixture after blending for peanut butter sherbet.
