How to Make Christmas Candy Cookie Cutter Treat Bags

If you are like me,  you have a number of people you  need to give small Christmas gifts.  From  Secret Santa swaps, teacher gifts, hostess gifts to “Whoops, I forget” gifts, I like to have a few simple gifts to give out at a moment’s notice.   This year I have found the perfect gift.  It’s easy to make, includes candy, is lower cost and can be used in the future.  These DIY Candy Filled Cookie Cutters Treat Bags look so festive! They  could even be used as party favors or place markers.

How to Make Christmas Candy Cookie Cutter Treat Bags:

Supplies Needed to make the Cutters:
Cookie cutters, 1 per person
Tip:  You can use copper, metal or stainless steel cutters for an elegant look, or use plastic cookie cutters.
cellophane treat bags
Tip: Clear treat bags without designs work best
ribbon
Tip: If you want to hang the ornaments on the tree, use a thicker ribbon to hold the weight
craft paper  or scrapbook paper (if you use smaller cookie cutters, each sheet should make four to six, if larger cookie cutters, two to four)
Scissors
a Pencil
candy of your choice
tape
Tip: Clear tape works best

Directions:
Step 1 : Place the cookie cutters on the craft or scrapbooking paper. Trace around each cutter.
Step 2: Once you’ve traced the shapes, cut out the shapes.
Step 3: Place the craft paper shape behind the cookie cutter and tape the shape into place.
Step 4: Fill each shape with candy.
Step 5:  Place the cutter into a cellophane bag. Tie the bag together with the ribbon.
Voila! I had four gifts prepared in less than ten minutes.

Marich

I used Marich premium chocolates to fill my cookie cutters because they were round and easy to fit into the cookie cutter, but any type of small candy will do. You could easily use Reese’s Pieces, M & M’s or even mini chocolates. Just remember to get a candy that is colorful, like the holiday version of the candies. I think the cookie cutters would also be cute filled with gumdrops or Dots.
