Gluten Free Fridays 4

It’s FriYay! Although there are a lot of reasons to look forward to Friday, we hope that one of them is reading our Gluten Free Friday post. Every Friday, we share the latest and greatest in the world of gluten free and allergen friendly snacks. Gluten Free Friday was born from a conversation I had with my mom about how far gluten and allergy friendly food has come since I was first diagnosed with celiac disease in 2012. Back then, I felt like my options were white rice or cardboard. Now, as soon as I think of a food I miss, I can do a quick Google search and find a gluten free and allergy friendly version of it to try.

With great options comes great responsibility, and it can be hard to sift through all the products out there these days. That’s where we come in- we try them so you don’t have to! This Friday we’re sharing five more products we think you’ll love. Let’s get started!

Cheryl's Cookies Gift Pack
1. Cheryl’s Cookies This isn’t the first time we’ve worked with Cheryl’s Cookies, and I can assure you that it won’t be last time I eat them. Although perhaps best known for more traditional cookies and sweets Cheryl’s also offers gluten free and sugar free options for those with dietary restrictions. We received a gluten free sampler pack filled with tasty sweets like gluten free brownies, chocolate cookies, iced sugar cookies, snickerdoodles, and chocolate chip cookies. I immediately reached for the iced sugar cookies, which tasted just like the iced sugar cookies we used to eat at school parties. It was a nostalgic blast from the past! Out of all the cookies and brownies, the snickerdoodles were my least favorite- but only because I’m not a fan of cinnamon. The cinnamon lovers in my family gobbled them up. Some of the cookies do have a slight taste of rice flour.
Contains: Eggs, Milk, Nuts, may contain other allergens
Good For: Anyone with a sweet tooth, gifts, special occasions. Holidays

The New Primal
2. The New Primal is serving up a variety of certified paleo, gluten free meat products and marinades. We received a sampler of meat sticks to try. As a lifelong lover of meat snacks, Justin was excited to see a healthier version of one of his favorite treats. These are also soy free and free of antibiotics, GMOs, and added hormones. I like that these are a great way to get some extra protein into your diet, something I am majorly lacking in. The meat sticks come in a variety of fun flavors, like cilantro lime. My favorite was the uncured bacon flavor, which was surprisingly since I’m not a huge pork fan.
Contains: Coconut, may contain other allergens
Good for: protein, paleo dieters, snacking on the go, meat lovers.

Soom Tahini Spread
3. Soom Spreads Tahini is so versatile. You can make hummus, dressing, sauces, dips, and just about anything else you can dream of. Soom offers Tahini and Chocolate Tahini Spread, and we received both to try. The chocolate tahini spread has a milder flavor than you would think, and is perfect for use on toast or in desserts. My mom, who doesn’t usually eat tahini, thought the chocolate spread tasted really good. The Tahini is exactly what I look for when I buy Tahini, and I can’t wait to make it into a nice batch of hummus…or six. Soom products are not only gluten free, they are also peanut free, dairy free, vegan, and kosher.
Contains: Sesame
Good For: Vegans, Cooking, Spreads, Replacing Chocolate Spreads with peanuts in them, Hummus

Jojo's Sriracha
4. Jojo’s Sirachi It’s no secret that I love spicy food. Honestly, I put hot sauce on just about anything. Over the years, thanks to some spice-loving friends, I’ve become a bit of a snob about hot sauce. Not just any sauce will do anymore. We were sent the OG and the GR sauces from JoJo’s Sriracha. Now, I think hot sauce goes on all kinds of foods, but one of my staples is eggs. My other staple? Pizza and hot sauce. You just gotta try it, okay? If your hot sauce doesn’t taste good on eggs and pizza, it’s not a real hot sauce. These sauces from JoJo’s passed with flying colors. One thing I immediately noticed was that these sauces were less sweet and more vinegary than some common hot sauces. That’s by design, and it really makes a difference.
Contains: No Top 8 allergens listed, but always contact the company for safety information.
Good for: Spice lovers, taco night, gifts and stocking stuffers

Protein Plus Peanut Powder
5. Protein Plus If you have a peanut allergy, this one isn’t for you. Protein Plus Energy Power is a protein powder made of peanut protein. It contains probiotics, so it’s a gut-friendly way to start your day or end your workout. It contains no soy or whey protein, and is 100% vegan. It has no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners, and is also GMO free! I actually didn’t get to try this, because my mom stole it and drank it all. She made it as shakes, but said it would be great as smoothies as well. It does have a peanut taste, so if you like peanut butter, this is for you. My mom said this was “one of the best protein powders” she’d tried “in a long time,” which is big news considering how many protein powders she’s tried.
Contains: Peanuts
Good For: Vegans, Post-Workout Snack, Breakfast, Replacing a Meal on the Go

So, we checked out five new products this week, and we’ll be checking out five more next week. Don’t miss it! Which of today’s products have you tried? Which one would you like to try first?
