Dalmatian Tail Pops (101 Dalmatians Family Movie Night)

My kids loved  101 Dalmatians when they were younger. They would beg to watch the movie and sing along to the Cruella De Vil song.  “Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil, if she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will…” Knowing how much they loved this movie, with Disney releasing the 101 Dalmatians: Diamond Edition 2 Disc Blu-Ray, DVD & Digital HD set on February 10th, I decided it was time for a blast from the past family movie night.  Yep, my kids are still Disney classic fans.   What better way to spend a chilly winter’s evening than watching a favorite movie and having “Dalmatian Tails” as a snack. These gluten free snacks whip up in a hurry, except for freezing time, and cost a lot less than purchasing them in the freezer section.

Here’s what you need to make them:

ingredients
Do Not Use Overripe bananas! They will fall off the popsicle sticks!

Start by peeling your bananas (trust me on this, much easier to do it this way), slicing them in half, and inserting a popsicle stick into each banana half. Wrap the bananas in aluminum foil and freeze for one hour.  Remove the bananas from the freezer.  Microwave the white chocolate for 1 minute, stir. Microwave for 30 seconds more. Quickly coat one banana half with white chocolate and immediately press on 5 brown peanut butter candies or milk chocolate candies.  Be sure to press the candies in as soon as you add the chocolate because it hardens quickly!  (I realize Dalmatians have black spots, but I couldn’t find any black candies I could use for the spots.)

Pongo, Perdita and their super-adorable puppies are in for thrills, hilarious spills and an epic action-packed adventure when they face off with Cruella De Vil, Disney’s most fabulously outrageous villainess.

Now my son hears me humming and asks, “Can’t she sue him for defamation of character?” It doesn’t stop the rest of us from singing the song. It’s catchy and gets stuck in our head.  Do you have a favorite character from 101 Dalmatians?
