Blue Cheese and Bacon 7 Layer Salad Recipe

The 4th of July has always been a big deal in our family. When I was younger, it was the only time of year my entire extended family could get together.  Now we celebrate Independence Day on a smaller scale, but a cookout with family or friends is a yearly tradition. I usually turn the grilling over to the guys, but I’m in charge of cookout side dishes.  We usually have a 7 layer salad, but I like to change recipes from to keep the menu exciting.  This year I plan to serve a twist on this classic with this Blue Cheese and Bacon 7 Layer Salad Recipe.

This delicious salad is made with fresh fruit, creamy blue cheese and bacon. It's great for grilling season and is a twist on a classic 7 Layer salad.
This has been a partnered post with Naturally Fresh(R) Brand Salad Dressing, but all opinions are my own.

I included all of our favorite pairings with blue cheese; apples, pears, and bacon. Because bacon makes everything better! I layered the salad in a bowl and had a beautiful layered salad that turned out to be red, white and blue.   Even better, I can make the salad in minutes (or make it a day in advance) and have time to enjoy myself with our guests.

Tips:
If you are in a hurry, use 1 (8 ounce) package iceberg salad, or your favorite salad blend. Spinach works well in this recipe too.
You can also substitute candied walnuts, pecans or almonds for the toasted walnuts.
Apples and Pears can be diced instead of sliced, if you prefer smaller pieces.

You can find Naturally Fresh® dressing  in the refrigerated section because it is free of artificial colors, flavors and artificial preservatives.  Want to learn more? Visit them on Facebook or Pinterest.
