How To Make A DIY Facial Scrub

I love a good facial scrub or mask. I tried many of them over the years. When the kids were younger, I managed to scare them on a regular basis with my masks. “Ack!” they would exclaim, “Why is your face green?” I love the effects of masks; smoother, softer skin, but I was never a fan of the price.  One day, many years ago, I stumbled across an easy recipe using common items from my kitchen. It took less than a minute to whip up this mask. I’ve never been disappointed with the results.

Before applying the mask, I always make sure I’ve secured my hair away from my face. This mask is extra sticky!  To make the mask, you’ll need sea salt, olive oil and honey.  You can use coarse sea salt if you like. I keep a salt grinder full of sea salt in my cabinet and grind just enough to add to the recipe.

One of the things I like about this recipe is that it only makes enough for one application. There’s no need to worry about storing the excess. I’m also a fan of knowing exactly what goes onto my face. If I accidentally get the mask ingredients in my mouth (and it happens!), there’s no need to worry what sort of chemicals or preservatives I’m ingesting.

Mix all the ingredients together until blended.  Apply to your face using a circular motion.  I leave the mask on for two minutes and then rinse off.  This also works well on other areas of the body as I accidentally dropped some down the top of my shirt. I now have a silky smooth neckline!
