Hotel Tonight App provides Stress Free Travel

I remember my “B.C” (before children) days days when I thought the world was my oyster. Sometimes, on the spur of the moment, Bryan and I would decide, “Why don’t we take a short trip?” We would find a hotel at the last minute when we reached our destination.  This seemed like no big deal, but we were always the ones who discovered we had chosen to take a trip during  a town festival, some sort of show, or, worse, when two rival ball teams were playing. Talk about having trouble finding a hotel! I spent years wishing a simple solution was available.  Finally, I have found one– the Hotel Tonight App.

A couple of weeks ago I had to fly out of Nashville.  This seemed like no big deal, until I realized how early I would have to leave.  Bryan, looking over my flight information, told me, “Why don’t you spend the night at a hotel near the airport instead of leaving at 2:30 AM?” Because I am a huge fan of sleep and not driving in the middle of the night, I was quick to agree.  At first I was concerned.  It is called Hotel Tonight for a reason: I had to book my room the day I wanted to stay at the hotel. I was a little leary of last minute bookings because I didn’t want to find myself having a Bates Hotel experience.  I couldn’t have been more wrong.  The app only lists a small selection of hotels, mostly upscale and luxury, that are looking for last minute bookings on unfilled rooms .  I found a king sized suite at the Marriott, which was five minutes from the airport parking lot, for $119.

The booking was easily done through the app.  I was sent an email confirming my stay within minutes of finishing the booking.  I read over it and saw all I needed to check in was an ID and a credit card for incidentals.  The only problem I had was when I tried to check in.  The front desk clerk easily found my booking and tried to run it through the computer without success. After several attempts, she called the Hotel Tonight service desk.  She had no idea I was testing the hotel tonight app, having had several customers throughout the day using the app, and chatted about her Hotel Tonight experiences.  “The person on their  help desk was so patient and nice,” she exclaimed, “usually when we have to call a company with a problem, they’re not polite.”  Had we not had the little snafu at checkin, it would have been the easiest check in I had ever done because she had all my information already and the room was already paid.

Would I use Hotel Tonight again? Yes.  They have listing in cities around the country, in Mexico, Canada and in Europe.

  41. The Hotel Tonight app sounds really cool. Sometimes I just feel like getting away for a day and I’m always searching for nice hotels that are worth the price because I don’t want to stay at a Bates Motel either so maybe this will come in handy since the app kind of narrows the search a bit. But only $119 for a king sized suite at the Marriott? Amazing! I can afford that!
