Easy DIY Snowflake Christmas Ornament

My goal each holiday season is to make at least one Christmas ornament for the tree and host one Christmas party.  If  I can  make cute decor that can  double as treats for the guests to take home, it’s a bonus. This cute  easy DIY snowflake Christmas ornament is my kind of project. It can be made in minutes, because I am all about saving time but looking like I fussed.  It’s inexpensive to make and can be used as place markers for the dinner table.  My guests can take them home and use them as ornaments for their tree.  It will give them a great memory of a fun evening spent with friends.

How to Make A DIY Snowflake Christmas Ornament

You’ll need these supplies:
Epsom Salts (or “fake” snow from the dollar store) I used about a cup per ornament.
Food Coloring or Paste in color of your choice. I used blue on half and kept half their natural color.
Round, flat clear ornaments (find them at craft or major chain stores)
3d Stickers
Ribbon for hanging
Scissors

supplies needed snowflake ornaments

Directions to Make the Ornaments:
Step 1: Pour one cup (per ornament) of Epsom salts into a large bowl.
Step 2: Mix in food coloring or gel food paste until you reach the desired coloring. (I used about four drops food paste.)
Step 3: Use a funnel to pour Epsom salts into the ornament, filling to within a few centimeters from the top.
Two Tips:
*If you use Epsom salts this will make the ornament heavy so be sure the top is fastened securely.  If the ornament seems to heavy to hang, use “fake” snow. It’s basically small styrofoam pellets.
*Also, place a sheet of paper under the ornament when pouring in the filling to make clean up easier.

Step 4: Once the ornament has been filled and the top fastened securely, add the stickers to the front.
*To make snowflake ornaments: I used blue colored Epsom salt for filling along with snowflake stickers.
*To make holly ornaments: I used white Epsom salt with holly stickers.
Step 5: Add ribbon and tie into place.

The ornaments are now ready to hang or use as place settings. They can also be used on outdoor Christmas trees.
