DIY Spring Clothespin Wreath

I started my patio redo last year with big dreams. I planned a gorgeous place to eat outdoors, relax and entertain. Alas, my hopes went down the drain when my father and daughter began having health issues. My crafty ideas and inspirations were put on hold. This year I decided to try again. I drew up a patio plan, much to the dismay of the rest of my family, as I have big plans they must help accomplish. I also began searching for DIY décor items on pinterest and found this cute clothespin wreath. I decided to do a pinterest remake, giving it my own special touches.
DIY Clothespin Wreath

I started with a wire wreath frame and a package of 100 clothespins. The cheapest place I found to purchase both of these items is at Walmart. I only used 50 of the clothespins on this wreath, so I can make another one for the 4th of July. I began by spray painting all of the clothespin white and allowing them to dry.

I covered half of my clothespins with a green glitter paint. The package said it was lime glitter, but this is unlike any lime I’ve ever seen. Thank goodness it still turned out okay. After allowing the glittered clothespins to dry, I began pinning the clothespins to the wire frame, alternating between green glittered and white.

Next, I attached a burlap bow on the top of the wreath. I picked my bow up at Michael’s in their after Christmas clearance sale for 25 cents, so be sure to shop their clearance sales for good buys!) I also found some fabric butterflies in the Michael’s discount bin for 50 cents each and picked up a couple to add some pizazz to my wreath. I attached one butterfly to each side.

My wreath is perfect for adorning my patio if I ever get it completed and cost less than $10 to make. This clothespin idea is so adaptable! I can see July 4th wreaths, Thanksgiving wreaths, fall wreaths, you name it.
