Contemporary Elegance at Eventi Hotel NYC

Capri Sun provided my travel expenses to New York City, but I was not required to write a review of the Eventi Hotel. The thoughts and opinions expressed in this blog post are my own.

After a very long and arduous journey through the unplowed side streets of New York City, I arrived at the Eventi Hotel.  I was tired, cold and had a headache from the bouncing of the shuttle on what turned out to be a two hour ride from the airport. The minute I stepped into the hotel, located near the theater district,  I felt better. The smiling staff member inquired about my day, asked me where I was from, chatted with me about experiences he had in Georgia, and told me about the complementary wine hour the hotel held each night.  When I asked for directions for sight seeing, the staff gave me very explicit directions on how to walk to nearby places of interest.  Believe me, that was helpful as I didn’t know my way around the city.

When I arrived at my room I was pleasantly surprised to find floor to ceiling windows with an amazing view of the Empire State Building.  The decor was contemporary and filled with the latest conveniences, like an iHome docking system,  toiletries from C.O. Bigelow and a 37 inch LCD TV that I never even got around to watching.  Did I mention the relaxing dual fixture shower in the marble shower? It was the perfect way to warm up after hours in the freezing cold. My favorite touch was the map of NYC on the wall with a pin showing our location.  A work area with free wi-fi completed the room.  If you have read any of my previous hotel reviews, you know free wi-fi is usually the highlight of my trip.

Later that evening our group relaxed in the comfortable waiting area in the lobby, curled up near the fireplace, while I sipped the readily available fruit flavored water.  It was a perfect way to end a winter evening as we had all walked to dinner and back through sleet, snow and slush.  The next morning we dined at the hotel restaurant, Humphreys, which served a continental breakfast with a variety of to die for pastries.  Located on a glass lined patio, the ambiance made it feel like a spring day, not the dead of winter.
Eventi Hotel Humpreys
The Eventi hotel is centrally located, within easy walking distance to Madison Square Gardens,  the Empire State building and Times Square.  With the clean modern design, the friendly staff, and the great location, I would recommend the Eventi to anyone traveling to New York City.  I also have a couple of travel tips to save money.  If you fly into LaGuardia, ask at the information desk and they can arrange a shuttle to take you to the hotel. My cost to travel to the hotel was $16.80 (plus tip), compared to others who spent $50 to take a taxi and the travel time was the same.  If you plan to travel to NYC in the winter, take rubber boots.  The streets are slushy and it is easier to dodge traffic when running across the street.
