A Baby’s Guide To Christmas Food

In honor of the Christmas season and the new baby, Jenna has offered to give you last minute ideas on what all babies want for their Christmas meal. She is sure you will find them as appetizing as she does.

1. Clump of Cat Hair, preferably fresh from the Cat.  *If you don’t have a cat, any type of pet will do. Dogs have plenty of nice fur too.

2. Floor junk. It doesn’t matter anything you can pick up off the floor will work. Something that disappeared 6 years ago? Sure. Dirt? No problem.  Piece of rice from dinner that somehow ended up under the table? Delicious. No matter how many times you sweep and mop, floor junk will magically reappear. Good for snacks between meals.

3. Leaves.  Sticky wet leaves brought in after a rain shower will work, but dried ones work best.   They’re extremely crumbly and make good floor junk snacks for later. Most parents will miss at least one small piece.

4. Socks. Could be baby socks, could be anyone’s. It doesn’t matter.  Clean are the best, but dirty ones will do in a pinch if someone doesn’t put them in the laundry hamper.

5. Mashed bananas, sweet potatoes and carrots. Because everyone needs balanced nutrition.

Jenna’s tips:

*Usually as soon as someone sees you trying to eat any of these items, they will try to take them away from you. (Perhaps they think they are only to be eaten in moderation as special treats?) My advice: If  you see someone approaching, crawl faster. They’ll still catch you, but you don’t have to make it easy for them. Let them get exercise and work for it.

*If they do a mouth sweep, (and they will, rude), your best bet is to cry.  Perhaps it will make them think twice before they try it again.

And, if you are looking for easy, low cost baby gifts, she has suggestions for her favorite toys.

  9. My kids were really into the cat hair haha It must be because it’s so soft.

  10. I can’t stop laughing at most of these. It rings so true!

  11. Wow, I enjoyed reading this! Surprisingly, the cardboard box has been a staple for our kids at home, whether for fun or real tasks-related like cleaning and sorting out toys.

  12. This is too funny but so true when it comes to kids. They will put anything in their mouth even if they didn’t like it when they did it a minute ago.

  13. This is a hilarious article! I plan on sharing it with my sister-in-law, who has four small boys.

  14. This is hilarious. It’s been a long time since my girls were babies, but I sure remember those days.

  15. These are some great sounding ideas, it must be hard to think how to treat you young child to something a little special without over doing it.

  16. So cute! It’s so true of babies and boxes, even my 3 year old tends to play with the empty boxes more! Kids are so funny.

  17. I don’t have kids but this seems like a great list!! Great post!!

  18. Bahahaha I laugh so hard at this post! OMG that reminded me so much when my son was a tot. Now I know what to get my nephew for Christmas lol

  19. She’s adorable! I have luckily had 3 kids who didn’t really pick up everything to eat, except my oldest loved the dog’s food. Yuck! I’m hoping baby #4 isn’t into putting everything in it’s mouth either.

  20. Awwwww, too cute! Great guide though!. lol. Babies are always trying to stick everything in their mouths!

  21. My great niece is at this age! I always laughed at my daughter when she did that. Have to stay on top of these things!

  22. Awww, takes me back. My baby turns 5 in a couple of weeks. I remember her eating habits as a little tiny thing.

  23. That is too funny! I remember those days!

  24. I love this! My kid would definitely go for the sock when he was younger.

  25. Could this post be any more spot on? While my 11 month old nephew enjoys munching all of these things, he is also loving his first experience with Christmas cookies.

  26. Bahaha, this is not what I expected the post to be about but it is great! I should have just got my niece a cardboard box… if only I knew!

  27. This made me laugh. I know when my son was little, he always played with the box and not the toy.

  28. I had to laugh at the floor junk part. That’s so my niece. Anything she can find, it’s in her mouth.

  29. My grandson is getting to that fun age. Everything goes in the mouth. Along with all the stuff he puts in his mouth and the dog kisses, this child will have one hick of an immune system.

  30. Brings back memories of how agile I was trying to prevent my kids from eating something they found on the floor. My son even tried to taste sanitizer just because he was fascinated with the light blue gel color and fancy looking bottle.

  31. OMG, this is the funniest thing I’ve read all day. Socks. Socks are always a yummy treat for the bay-bahs. LOL

  32. Bwahahaha. I ADORE this post. I’ve always said that babies are just like dogs. They’ll both put anything in their mouths, and they’re both so cute when they do it! <3

  33. This is too funny! We had a new puppy when my son was little and just starting to crawl. Thankfully, I caught him right before he stuffed puppy poo into his mouth. Seems the puppy had an accident a few minutes before my son spotted it. Yuck!

  34. I remember those days. My boys would HAPPILY eat food they found under the couch like they just found some kind of sacred treasure.
