Best Baby Presents Holiday Gift Guide

It’s been a while since we’ve been Christmas shopping for a baby. The youngest child in our whole extended family is 13 years old now. Since the arrival of my daughter in April, I’ve been excitedly planning the perfect First Christmas. She has the outfit; we’ve got the plans. All we needed was some gifts!

1. Phone of My Own” by Sassy Baby
If your baby is anything like mine, they love your phone. Seriously, I’ve had to switch to a waterproof case just to protect it from my teething baby. The “Phone of My Own” developmental toy is perfect for any baby or toddler who is obsessed with mom’s (or dad’s) phone. This toy speaks in both English and Spanish, and is made of sturdy plastic. Perfect for kiddos who are still getting the hang of holding onto things! The bright colors keep baby interested, and the light up button in the middle of the screen is just like the light up screen on mommy’s phone- well, close enough. This toy is recommended for ages 6 months and up and retails for $4.99 on Amazon.

5. Kid’Sleep MyLantern by Claessens’Kid
The Kid’Sleep MyLantern by Classens’Kid comes in 4 colors. Our lantern is fuschia, which is a fun bright pink color. The MyLantern is the perfect nightlight for kids. When you pick it up by the handle, it automatically turns on, which is perfect for late night trips to the toilet. It has multicolored lighting, four lullaby options (2 songs, rain, and a heartbeat), and more. The light can be turned on for different periods of time or be left on all night, which is perfect for kiddos who don’t like the dark. Since our kiddo isn’t a big fan of the dark, she loves that this lantern has soft, soothing bedside lighting. We like that we can turn on the lantern by picking it up, and check on the baby in her nursery without turning on the bright overhead light! The MyLantern retails for $39.99.

6. Edwin the Duck
Edwin the Duck is a multifunctional smart toy who does just about everything. Edwin looks like a traditional rubber duck, but when it comes to function, he’s anything but traditional. He’s a nightlight, a bath thermometer, a sound machine, a speaker, and he has interactive apps. Are you impressed yet? Because we are. After all, dunking your hand in the tub to make sure it feels okay for baby? That’s just guesswork. With Edwin’s bath thermometer, you’re never left wondering if the bath is too hot or too cold. Edwin’s speaker means he can play all the sounds from his apps, along with activating “disco mode” for bathtime and having seven sleep sounds! If you’re like us and have a playlist for your baby, you can also use Edwin to play songs from your device. Edwin has twelve hours of battery life, so he’s good to play all day or shine all night, whatever the case may be. He comes with a charger, a USB cable, and a wall port, so no pesky batteries to change! Edwin is both iOs and Android compatible, and is BPA free. He is certified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and retails for $99.

7. Starling by VersaMe
We do everything to make sure our baby is developing on track. She’s exposed to (at least) two languages on a daily basis, attends a story time and baby bounce class at the library every Saturday, and we read to her every day. If you’re first time parents like us, you’ve read all the books that say you should speak to your baby a lot to help their neural and linguistic development. That’s where Starling by VersaMe comes in. Did you know that most of your kid’s brain development happens before they even reach Kindergarten? Most of that learning comes from you, and one of the biggest things is how much language they’re exposed to. The Starling counts how many words are said to your child, for your peace of mind, and allows you to make sure they’re getting talked to enough! The Starling retails for $199, which puts it out of reach of some people. That’s why VersaMe is involved in social good, partnering with organizations like Literacy Lab to make sure every kid gets the best start possible. We talk to baby a good bit, but we wanted to know how much. The answer was surprising! (It’s a lot.)

8. pediped Shoes
We are a sucker for cute outfits for the baby, down to matching shoes! With the weather turning cooler, she needs comfy shoes to keep her feet warm and be able to withstand the rigors of her trying to stand up and “cruise” in the upcoming months. pediped was the perfect choice because they not only have adorable styles for boys and girls, they have been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance for creating shoes that promote healthy foot development. We’re especially impressed with their G2 technology, made for beginning and transitioning walkers. With heel stability and rounded edges to mimic the natural shape of children’s feet, she’ll be able to be up and moving in no time. Plus, the patterns and styles are adorable! Shoes come in sizes from infant to 12+ years, so we can find styles for years to come. Bonus! They have a rewards program and a birthday club. The baby is wearing the Grip ‘n’ Go™ Rosa Gingersnap style, which goes perfectly with everything from casual outfits to cute dresses.
