I think our kitchen is the most used room in our home. I know I certainly spend the most time in there! Not by choice either. There’s always cooking, food prep, or dishes needing to be done. Standing in the kitchen for hours on end can be tiring. While looking around for products to Help Around the House, I stumbled onto Wellness Mats. After discovering This Old House had proclaimed them as “one of their top 100 best new home products” and USA Today has ranked them as “one of the eight must have kitchen gadgets you’ll actually use”, I was intrigued.
What are Wellness Mats?
Revolutionary anti-fatigue mats ergonomically engineered and medically proven to provide you (and your feet) unsurpassed comfort, safety, relief and well-being.
When our Wellness Mat arrived I was busy and asked my husband to open the box for me. He pulled it out and sat it on the floor. “What is this?” he asked. I explained it was a mat designed to help relieve stress on the body while standing for long periods of time. A few minutes later I noticed he was standing on the mat with a contented look of his face. “This mat feels great!” he said, “If I were a cashier (like our oldest daughter) I would take this to work with me everyday to stand on during my shift.” I’ve noticed he stands on it every time he does any work in our kitchen.

These mats are unbelievably comfortable. They’re so thick and soft. Since our kitchen gets a major amount of traffic I appreciate how easy they are to clean. Not only does dirt and grime wipe out easily, when the cat has a hairball it’s a cinch to clean it off this mat. Yes, I am talking from first hand experience.
Wellness Mats would work in any room. Folding laundry? Working in the Garage workshop? Or possibly for my teenagers-standing in front of a mirror putting on makeup. That seems to be a time consuming chore. Available in several sizes and colors, including new seasonal design covers, Wellness Mats have earned a permanent place in my kitchen.
